Frequently Asked Questions
Rankings are based on a composite score combining player reviews (rating and volume), recent check-in activity, verification status, and community engagement. Places must have at least 3 reviews with a 3.5+ average rating and be community-verified, admin-verified, or owner-claimed to appear. Paid placement or subscription tier do not influence rankings.
Rankings are recalculated daily based on the latest review and activity data. As new reviews are submitted and players check in, scores adjust automatically to reflect current quality and popularity.
Any mahjong club, group, or venue can be submitted for free on MahjongFinder. Once your listing is verified — either by the community, our team, or by claiming it as the owner — it becomes eligible for the rankings. Focus on encouraging your players to leave honest reviews, as this is the strongest signal in our algorithm.
A club with a perfect 5.0 rating from only 3 reviews may rank below a 4.5-rated club with 30 reviews. Our algorithm weights review volume alongside rating to ensure rankings reflect broad community consensus, not a small number of opinions. Recent activity (check-ins) also matters — an active club ranks higher than one with stale data.
